Hello 2018. Surviving Week 1

Wow can you believe we are here already. 2018, the year of infinite opportunities.

Getting back into the grind after an amazing, much needed break is difficult… especially when your mind still feels like it’s on holiday! My mind feels a bit slower and confused, and simple tasks are taking a whole lot longer then normal…

You aren’t going crazy, you’re just a bit brain dead….

If this sounds familiar, then perhaps you can take comfort in knowing that it’s normal! The first week or two are always the hardest.

But there are ways to cope…

Here’s 3 ways I am working towards this 😊

1) Organise & personalise your desk!
Make your space comfortable and more ‘you.’ If you spend a lot of time in the office, this is one of the most important steps to feeling happier in your space. Get rid of unnecessary papers, file and organise documents – have a place for everything! I would even suggest cleaning up your desktop, and changing your desktop background (if possible) to something that inspires you!

2) Get yourself a diary & a note book & start writing stuff down! 📝
I find that once I have written down everything on my mind, (whether this is work or personal) I am able to prioritize and work through each task in a calm & effective manner. Don’t try remember everything off hand, rather take note of it!! Your diary is then a great way to keep track of meetings and completed tasks per day – so you can actually see your planned week and daily progress.

3) Nutrition is key! 🍎🍌
Don’t forget to pack yourself a healthy and substantial breakfast or lunch and avoid excess & added sugars. Your meals should consist of slow energy releasing foods, so as to focus and complete your daily tasks without feeling that slump. DON’T pack sweets, chocolates or unhealthy snacks – these will leave you feeling sluggish. DO pack low GI, meals and snacks that keep your blood sugar levels stable and your mood on point! 🙂

Lastly, don’t forget your water bottle and if you struggle to drink water, throw some fruits into your bottle to give it a better taste. This will ensure that you drink a lot more !💦
